Google Pixel Charging Speeds Confirmed; Pixel XL Charges With 18W

We recently covered an article about the battery life of smartphones and it was interesting to see how different phones charged and discharged. The Google Pixel was not tested in those benchmarks but here we have Google Pixel charging speeds. Both the XL and the smaller version have been tested by Nathan K. He discovered that there was a discrepancy between the charging speeds of the Xl version as compared to the simple model. Google Pixel charging speeds have been confirmed and here is what you need to know.
When it comes to Google Pixel charging speeds, the Pixel is limited to 15W while only the XLversion gets 18W. This has been done on purpose in order to maintain thermals and the phone as well as the charger are safe to use.
According to Nathan:
“Practically speaking, this will have ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT on your daily use. The charger and phone are safe. This decision was intentional and apparently made based on thermal concerns,”

A 3W difference is not a big deal and you will not feel the difference in day to day use. Google Pixel charging speeds may differ when it comes to the different versions of the device but that will not change the experience that Google has promised the users. It seems that the cap was used as a safety measure and the marketing team simply did not get the memo on time. A simple misunderstanding.
It is highly unlikely that the company has kept this information to itself. The material on the website has also been changed to support the Google Pixel charging speeds. Though this was not the case when the phone came out. We are not sure what to make out of this and I guess only the company can tell us what went wrong and why this is the case.
What do you think about the Google Pixel charging speeds?
